about
Drawing inspiration from the sounds of Italo-disco and '80s artists like The Cars, Depeche Mode, and Pet Shop Boys, Ronnie taps the classic synths of the era (the Korg-M1 and Juno-106) to deliver poignant hooks and pulsating basslines. The result is an incredibly danceable and harmonically rich sound that evokes an atmosphere of romance and melancholy.
“Riding In The Rain” details the dysphoria of heartbreak, and the feeling of being trapped and left behind as the world changes around you. In vivid technicolor, we are treated to Ronnie's visions of the seedy, neon-lit streets of '70s Manhattan, like something from the film Taxi Driver.
lyrics
Up and down the backstreets
And I don't know where I'm going
There's a starkness in my hometown lately
Now the summers come and gone
It's a parallel dimension
But everything's gone wrong
Ever since you left the scene
Feels like I don't belong
I’m riding in the rain
Riding in the rain
Riding in the rain
Never saw it coming
And I feel the pain
Thought I knew myself well
I thought that I was tough
Maybe I am changing
Didn't know it'd be so rough
The aura is so different
In those places we had gone
It's a far away feeling
A hollow in my heart
Haunting me
You're haunting my haunts baby
Curse me
To a loveless eternity
Insanity
I think I'm going mad
Circling endlessly around these streets
Haunting me
The wind and the train tracks
The beach and the pavement
The rain in my eyes
All I can see is the ashes of our
time
I’m riding in the rain
Riding in the rain
Riding in the rain
Never saw it coming
And I feel the pain
I’m riding in the rain
‘Cause things will never be the same
Never be the same
Riding in the rain
Never saw it coming
And I feel the pain
